12 years ago today, 343 FDNY firemen, 23 NYPD officers, and 37 Port Authority policemen perished in an effort to save as many lives that they swore to protect. These brave men and women will be forever honored as true heroes. They portrayed the very essence that makes the fire service so loved. Attributes like discipline, selflessness, and courage. Heroes, like those that risked all, are the building blocks of the fire service. We will continue to honor those that have fallen and we will hold true to the promise we set on 9/12/2001 of “NEVER FORGETTING”. No matter how many years pass, no matter how many times we come together you will never be alone. Those that gave their all will never be forgotten.
