Ashburn, VA — The Ashburn Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department (AVFRD) has elected Melvin Byrne to serve as Fire Chief, filling the position left vacant following the resignation of the former chief at their February Company meeting. Chief Byrne will serve in this role through the end of the current term, concluding at the end of the year.
