Fall Back and Test Your Smoke Alarms!

As residents “fall” backward and move their clocks back one hour as daylight saving time ends today, the Ashburn Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department reminds the community to test their smoke and carbon monoxide detectors and change the batteries, if necessary. Help us keep you and your family safe!
Statistics to share
- Three out of five home fire deaths result from fires in properties without working smoke alarms
- More than one-third (38 percent) of home fire deaths result from fires in which no smoke alarms are present.
- The risk of dying in a home fire is cut in half in homes with working smoke alarms.
