Fall Open House 2019
October 6 @ 12:00 pm - 3:45 pm
The Ashburn Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department will host its annual Fall Open House on October 6, 2019 from Noon till 3:45 PM. This event is free and open to the public. The Open House coincides with Fire Protection Week which has the theme; Not every hero wears a cape – plan and practice your escape!
There will be activities for all kids from 2 to 102. Our volunteers will host the following demonstrations:
- How to call 9-1-1
- Practice Stop, Drop and Roll
- Learn about smoke and carbon monoxide detectors
- Use a fire extinguisher
- Shoot the hose
- Plan a home escape route
- See live fire demonstrations
- Meet a firefighter
- Touch a truck (engine, ladder and ambulance)
- Enter our raffle to take a ride in the bucket of our new ladder truck
- And much more!
Our five safety stops allow children to practice their escape from a fire. They will get a small prize for visiting four stops. We will also have a bounce house for the children and free light refreshments (while supplies last).
The open house will be held at Station 6 which is located at 20688 Ashburn Road in Ashburn. Offsite parking is available at the Cedar Lane Elementary School with a free shuttle bus to the Station.
This is the 75th anniversary of the Department’s founding with “neighbors helping neighbors.” Our members look forward to showing our facilities, equipment and training to the public during this event. Do you want to volunteer with the company and help your neighbor too? Learn more at the open house.
