CHILLY DAYS CHILI FUNDRAISER 2023

Thank you to the many people who came out to support us at the Chili Days Chili Cook Off at Old Ox Brewery this past Saturday. It was a huge success. We could not have had this event without our gracious hosts Old Ox Brewery, who year after year make a special beer for us and allow us the space to hold the event. This year we had chili from Ford’s Fish Shack, DC Prime, Neighbor’s Sports Bar, Wicket Door Pub, City Tap, Bourbon Bayou Kitchen, The Zone, Carolina Brothers, Texas Roadhouse, The National Conference Center, Old Ox and we even had a batch of our chili. The overall winner as selected by the esteemed panel of judges was DC Prime, and People’s Choice was awarded to Ford’s Fish Shack.

OPEN HOUSE 2022

AVFRD hosted their first Open House on October 9, 2022, after a two year hiatus due to COVID.  It was a day full of fire and rescue demonstrations, fire safety, and the chance for the community to talk to firefighters and EMTs.  Thank you to everyone who came up to support us!

After almost a two year hiatus due to COVID-19, the Ashburn Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department held an in-person Pancake Breakfast with Santa Claus in the station.  It was a sold out event and thank you to everyone who came out to support us!  Also, thank you to Studio Bleu Dance Center for providing the entertainment.

A few of our members had the opportunity to visit House 6 Brewing Co. to help them start brewing their new Irish Red, the Anne Marie. The beer will be ready for St Patrick’s Day and is named after AVFRD’s own Irish redhead, Anne Marie O’Callaghan Mason. Anne Marie is a life member, our first-ever female firefighter, and the only female AVFRD President to date. Follow House 6 Brewing for updates on its availability!
