Interested in becoming a volunteer EMT or Firefighter, or an Administrative volunteer?\u00a0 AVFRD holds a hybrid (in-person and online) Volunteer Interest Meeting on the last Tuesday of every month starting at 7pm.\u00a0 This meeting will give you a chance to ask questions, get information and continue the paperwork requirements for volunteering in our department.<\/p>\n

Please start the application process in advance. Download, complete and print the Membership Application and bring it with you to the prospective member meeting. \u00a0A pdf of the application instructions and form can be downloaded here<\/strong><\/a><\/u>.<\/p>\n

Our community is growing and so is the need for volunteers to become trained firefighters and emergency medical technicians (EMTs). Station 6, located on Ashburn Road, has been the home of Ashburn Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department since shortly after our founding in 1944. \u00a0Construction of the original station 6 was completed in 1947, using materials purchased from local merchants and funds raised by our surrounding community.
\nOver the years, the station was expanded to meet the needs of our growing community. \u00a0In 2014, construction began our the new Fire Station\u00a0No.<\/em>\u00a06. \u00a0On March 2, 2016 the first call was run from the completed Station 6.
\nBeyond meeting the basic needs of housing, garage and living quarters for Company 6, the new building serves as a landmark for the Ashburn community, symbolizing the willingness of our citizens to come together in hard times to support each other. \u00a0Today, Station 6 houses\u00a0Engine Co 6<\/a>,\u00a0Truck Co 6<\/a>,\u00a0Medic Co 6<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Ambulance Co 6<\/a>, supported by our 270 members and our friends in the Ashburn Community who continuously offer their support to our mission.
