Ashburn Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department (AVFRD) offers students ages 14 and older opportunities to earn college application community service credit by volunteering at our community service events.

Available Events

AVFRD is offering students community service volunteer time for the following events.  Please complete our the form below to volunteer for an event (submit one form per event you wish to volunteer for).

Spring Open House – 2018

Date of event: October 19- 20 May 2018
Times volunteers are needed:
  • Open House Prep – Saturday,May 19, 1 – 5 PM
  • Open House Set up & Event, Sunday May 20, 08:30- 1 PM
  • Open House event & clean up, Sunday Sun May 20, 12:30- -5 PM
  • Open House all day, Sunday May 20 9AM – 5PM

Pancake Breakfast

Pancake breakfasts are held the 2nd Sunday of every month at the Ashburn Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department Founders Hall.  Student volunteers are needed to help set up, bus tables, serve food and clean up.  Approximate times are 8:00am – noon.


  • Attire:  long pants, shirts without writing or pictures (AVFRD volunteer sheets may be provided for the event and will be returned at the end of the event)
  • Closed toe shoes
  • Be prepared to tie your hair up should you be working with food
  • Be on time for shift selected
  • Stay for your entire shift
  • No cell phone usage during shift
  • At the conclusion of your shift bring any school volunteer sheet to be signed off to the student event coordinator.
