Is quarantine and work from home leaving you bored and craving human interaction? Want to play an active role in improving this situation for your friends and neighbors? Come be an essential part of our team!
Volunteering as a firefighter or EMT will test your strength and resolve, challenging you in new ways that will build your confidence, teach you new skills, and prepare you for whatever life may throw at you. There’s no better way to get in shape, meet new people, try something new, and push your limits! You don’t need experience – just a willingness to serve, an ability to learn new skills, and a desire to give – sometimes until it hurts – to make our community stronger and safer.
You don’t need to be a resident of Ashburn to join us, and no experience is necessary – we’ll provide all of the training you need.
Our Volunteer Interest Meeting is your chance to hear about the process, timelines, training requirements and commitments needed to become a first responder in Ashburn. At this meeting, we’ll discuss requirements, what to expect as a volunteer, timelines, and commitments. We’re happy to answer any questions you have. We look forward to learning more about you and the unique passion, personality, and talents that you can bring to our fire and rescue family.
We are also recruiting members for our Support Services team. Support Services members provide non-emergency, administrative, and auxiliary services that support the daily operations and mission of the department. No matter your age or background, you have unique skills that you can offer to your community by being a member of AVFRD.
