The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) and the @Loudoun County Fire and Rescue (LC-CFRS) will hold a full-scale, emergency drill in coordination with @Loudoun County Public Schools on Saturday, March 19, 2022, from approximately 8 a.m. to noon. The training will be held in and around Trailside Middle School in Ashburn. During part of the exercise, first responders will be located at nearby Stone Bridge High School and Newton-Lee Elementary School, and law enforcement will be strategically located around the immediate area to assist with any impacts to local traffic.
The exercise will focus on an emergency response to an active threat inside the school. The training will involve simulated scenarios and deputies and emergency personnel utilizing training equipment. The goal of this exercise is to assess the readiness of first responders to assure a coordinated, timely, and effective response and recovery in the event of a critical incident here in Loudoun County.
There will be significant law enforcement, fire, and emergency services present during the exercise. In order to avoid any concern, panic, or confusion, LCSO and LC-CFRS are working together with Loudoun County Public Schools to ensure that the public is notified ahead of time.
Variable message boards have been in the immediate area. Additionally, messages will be issued through LCPS communications, via social media, Nextdoor, and Alert Loudoun.
